This year, exactly 10 years after the launch of Bitcoin, which laid the foundation for the emergence of Blockchain Games, the IMGA launches its first International Blockchain Games Competition.
A Blockchain Game, or Crypto Game is based on Blockchain. Players are rewarded with a crypto asset when they achieve certain goals.
The first Blockchain Game, Huntercoin, was launched in 2014 and many others followed. The most famous Blockchain Game is Cryptokitties, a collection game.
“We want to find out if Blockchain Games are any fun.” Says Maarten Noyons, founder of the IMGA.
The competition will go live today. Submission can be done by simply sending a link to Blockchain@imgawards.com, with information about the publisher and a short description of the game. Links to trailers and whitepapers (pdf only) can be added as well. “Games represent an important business for blockchain.” Added Joony Koo, partner at Block Crafters Inc., and Chairman of the Blockchain Games Jury. “I look forward to seeing games that are innovative around Blockchain. Games that clearly utilize Blockchain and cryptocurrency as a drive for innovation.”
“We are excited to have the International Mobile Game Awards this year as part of our annual GameFest in Manila. This shows the growing influence of the Philippines in the global game industry.
We are happy to honor the best games made in Southeast Asia, and host the inaugural Blockchain Game Awards as well, says Gabby Dizon, co-founder and Chairman of Alto.io.
