ChemCaper: Act I - Petticles in Peril is the first Chemistry education platform in the world to bridge classroom education and mainstream gaming. An app built from the ground up with Chemistry concepts, it brings fascination with science to an RPG format, and takes the dread out of study!
Featuring pets based on the Periodic Table of elements, ChemCaper elevates learning Chemistry beyond the classroom and into the edutainment realm. Learn about atoms and apparatus in a fantasy world of science and adventure.

What if your world came crashing down, and You. Weren’t. There.? Roub, a young Moon Being, is charged with searching for his peoples' lost deity. He gets thrown into the lush, sunny world of Camp Ungku upon rumors that a glowing, mysterious being was there. Having crash landed, he is polarised into a cloudy search for answers, bearing the unnerving uncertainty of his parents’ fate as news of waves of attacks on his homeland, Reac Ta, crash upon his conscience. Something sinister has turned the friendly Petticles into vicious scheming monsters. Young, pampered Roub now bears the weight of his world on his shoulders to demystify the conundrum that riddles it and its beings, whether he knows it or not.

    Key features:
    - Get to know the different types of chemical bonds with the Petticles, in-game companions that will help fight Roub's battles.
    - Craft potions with real-life apparatus - Heal up! Get stronger! Move faster! Roub's going to need them to survive the wilderness of ChemCaper.
    - Music by Norihiko Hibino, award-winning composer of the Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta series.
    - Experience Chemistry through an adventure! With a world built based on the subject's concepts and the Periodic Table.

    What makes my game unique?

Imagine, it's a week before the exams and you need to revise Chemistry. You reach into your bag and pull out… your video game. ChemCaper seamlessly blends game mechanics, story and game art with chemistry concepts. The intention behind creating this game it to fast forward an education evolution. In today's world, chemistry is something painful students must memorize. With ChemCaper, we aim to help them find the fun in learning and the meaning behind the science facts.

Why could my game win an award?

Our hope is to make games even more necessary for learning than before. In a recent study by SRI International, games help disengaged students improve in their learning by a whopping 25%. Students who are already engaged and good at learning improved on an average of 12%. Games are a natural and impactful way to learn. After all, creatures in the wild play to learn and hone their survival skills. Students who play our game report that they remember 90% of the chemistry concepts taught in the game! There were also year 11 students using it to revise for their upcoming IGCSE exams. Within three days of launching our campaign, we became one of Kickstarter’s Projects We Love and Steam Greenlit within a week and a half of launching our game. We have also been recognized by the Cambridge University Students Union three years in a row and obtained a 5 Star Rating from The Educational App Store. Very recently, we have also won the MSC Malaysia APICTA Award for the Best E-Learning category. If you have gotten this far, thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us!
